Sport Aid grew directly out of Band Aid and Live Aid, staged as The Race Against Time, a simultaneous run held in cities worldwide to raise money for Unicef famine relief. The 1986 edition drew close to twenty million runners across seventy eight countries and the 1990 repeat followed the same format. Charity run merchandise from this period sits in an odd space, mass produced but tied to a single day.
